Imperfectly Showing Up

I learned a valuable lesson this week from two inspiring women.

Creative, alive, and ready to take on the world with unique offerings, we bounced ideas around and felt liberated by our capacity to dare to dream big.

As one wave of energy rose after the other, it became clear that amongst the swell was also a grounding pull of day-to-day reality. A reality that many of us face who are just starting.

The reality of working a full-time job as well as a side hustle, demanding commitments, not enough time or space, getting to the end of the day feeling exhausted with no energy.

I realised that mixed within these day-to-day realities is the magic, the lessons we are meant to learn, the detours we are meant to take; the non-linear movement of following what feels right.

We see so much online content about successes, superficially luring us into thinking the grass is greener if we simply leap or also paralysing us for fear of not being perfect.

We forget that the grass is green where we water it and the most potent lessons are learned by doing what we uniquely need to do to flourish.

When we embark on the journey to follow our hearts, we will frequently need to reprioritise, rebalance, or re-adjust the pace.

I learned this week that the key question is: “Is what I am choosing to do today, helping me create the life I want to live?”

Often we will need to make choices that feel like a detour or perhaps we find ourselves wishing we could achieve something sooner. More often than not, what is required of us is to simply show up, each day, totally imperfectly.

I learned to let go of the imaginary image of success over there and to feel empowered by what I am choosing right here. Fully embracing the highs, the lows, and the unexpected.

Continue to imagine what is possible. The intentional daily choices we make, will take us where we need to go, they will guide us towards the life we want to create, our authentic soul purpose.
