Sharing Stories as we Journey to the Root

Featuring Artee Vedula: Finding Purpose Through Values.

I had the privilege of meeting Artee on our Coaching Certification journey. Throughout the course, she always had such passion and energy towards learning and supporting those around her. Artee spoke at our graduation ceremony, her words were so poignant and inspiring; embodying her values and purpose in life fully.

Artee's story:

In life, our values shape who we are and how we see the world. For Artee, understanding her values changed everything.

Growing up, Artee followed her parents' teachings without question. But as she got older, through her own experiences, she started to question and be curious about her own value system. There were aspects of her culture which she did not agree with, in particular the idea that men should dominate and be the main decision maker.

Life was not always easy, as a child Artee was very shy, facing challenges and self-doubts. Lacking the confidence she embodies today, she decided to anchor her journey with curiosity and an evolving desire to grow.

“With who we are today, we can be a better person tomorrow.”

Curiosity has remained a catalyst for Artee’s ability to feel confident and interact with the world around her. She is passionate about people, interacting regularly with her community. She sees the world as a beautiful place and always tries to find the opportunity in life, driven by purpose and meaning.

As she experienced more of life, especially through relationships, Artee's views evolved and expanded. She found strength in her values, especially with the support of her husband who believed in equality.

As a mother of two, she took pride in raising her two daughters. When they went to high school, she wanted to continue to do something purposeful with her life.

Over a period of five years, Artee found purpose in tennis. But in 2023, an injury on the court forced her into surgery, suddenly faced with the task of reevaluating her life's direction.

During Artee’s recovery, she found solace in the wisdom of Jay Shetty, whose teachings she had been absorbing since 2019. His books and genius apps became her guiding light, leading her to a profound realisation: coaching was her calling. It was as if every twist and turn in Artee’s journey had been leading her to that moment.

Embracing this new path cultivated a deeper sense of self and a renewed commitment to self-enquiry. It wasn't just about personal growth. It was about a responsibility to humanity, a sense of purpose fulfilled by joining Jay Shetty's mission.

The contentment Artee found in being part of something greater than herself was unlike anything she had ever experienced. Becoming a coach wasn't just a job for Artee; it was a way to live her values every day. Through helping others, she found true fulfilment and knew she was making a difference.

Artee understands the importance of being clear about what she wants to achieve, pausing to express gratitude, and then moving forward with determination.

“True contentment comes from aligning our actions with our values.”

Looking back, Artee learned some important lessons. Believing in herself and spreading love were key. Love, she realized, connects us all and gives meaning to everything we do.

Artee's story shows us the power of embracing our values and following our hearts. With determination and love, we can find our purpose and make a difference in the world.

I asked Artee what was her biggest lesson so far; she said:

"Learning to believe in yourself and to enjoy the process with love. Love is the secret ingredient for everything - when you start with self-love, you can find what you want, achieve what you want to achieve and offer love to everything and everyone around you. Love brings everyone together.”
