On superpowers, spaciousness and what comes next
Reflecting back on the superpower series – these are topics I feel so passionately about.
But my bigger hope is that each of you cultivates the courage not just to identify, but to truly own your own unique superpowers.
We are living in times of unprecedented disruption. The uncertainty can be unnerving. But there is so much possibility in awakening to our own inner resilience and strengths – and that awakening starts from within.
The bridge between that inner awakening and what comes next is agency – the felt sense that we are not at the mercy of what’s happening around us.
I’ve been thinking a lot about agency lately.
How so much right now feels like transition – letting go, adapting, pivoting. To truly embrace all that is ahead, we need to feel we can choose intentionally. To trust the next step even when the path isn’t clear.
That means really being with ourselves throughout this time. Through the ups and the downs. Recognising which season of life we are in – energetically – helps us sustain the roots that hold us steady through any eventuality.
Life is so short and so precious. Why not lean into the gifts of who we are, and share them with the world with grace and gumption.
Space for transition.
As William and Susan Bridges remind us – “The essence of life takes place in the neutral zone phase of transition. It is in that interim spaciousness that all possibilities, creativity and innovative ideas can come to life and flourish.”
So this bank holiday weekend – I hope you can find some of that spaciousness for yourself.
- A longer walk in nature than you’d usually take
- A few deeper breaths before you reach for your phone
- A moment to let your mind drift without an agenda
- A conversation that nourishes rather than depletes
Meet yourself where you are, with the compassion you deserve – and need – as a human being navigating all that is being asked of us right now.
Next week I’ll be exploring something that feels like the natural next thread from everything we’ve covered in this series – letting go. The shedding of what no longer serves. And why that process, as uncomfortable as it is, might be one of the most important things we learn to do, to make space for the unknown possibilities ahead.
